Cindy Cavanagh is in her second season as head coach of the Finlandia University volleyball team. She is also the Assistant A.D. for Student Development.
In 2018, Cavanagh guided the Lions to the ACAA Tournament final, the first conference final in school history.
Cavanagh has spent the last two years as Program Manager of Top Flight Volleyball Club (Ill.). While at Top Flight, her team was the national championship runner-up at AAU Nationals in 2017. In 2018 the team finished 17th at AAU Nationals.
Cavanagh had a strong career in volleyball at Carthage (2008-11). As a senior, she helped the Lady Reds win the CCIW Tournament and NCAA Central Regional. A win over Springfield advance Carthage to the NCAA Division III Final Four for the first time in school history. Cavanagh was team captain, All-CCIW first team, made the NCAA All-Regional and NCAA National all-tournament teams and received the Erin Calteux Most Inspirational Women’s Volleyball Player award.
Carthage won three CCIW regular season titles, four CCIW tournament championships, qualified for nationals four times and three times reach an NCAA regional championship final. Cavanagh was All-CCIW second team as a junior and was a four-time All-CCIW selection in track and field. She earned a B.S. in Exercise Sport Science with a minor in Health and a Masters in Higher Education Leadership Studies with a Sports Leadership emphasis from Carthage.
Following graduation, Cavanagh was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Carthage for three years (2012-14). She coached summer camps for the Sports Performance Volleyball Club (2011-16) in Illinois as well as coaching club for the Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club.
Cavanagh resides in Hancock.
